Why did BlueStem Wealth Partners make this transition?
To put it simply, we are creating an independent investment advisory firm to offer more competitive investment and product solutions, better control your costs, and give you the best possible experience with technology and various capabilities.
The world is changing more rapidly than ever, and we must be nimble enough to change with it. This decision is based around a philosophical belief that we need to stay ahead of the needs of our clients and put our team in a position to do our best work for you not only today, but for the future.
Can I keep my current advisor?
The answer is absolutely yes. All of the financial advisors, and all of the team members you have worked with over the years, are transitioning over with BlueStem Wealth Partners and they are excited about this new opportunity to serve you.
How do I transfer my accounts?
We have made this process very easy for you. For most clients who have an email address, you will receive 2 emails to DocuSign once you give us permission to transition your accounts. One will be from BlueStem Wealth Partners, and one will come from Charles Schwab. You will need to review your personal information for accuracy, things like name and address, make any necessary changes, and then sign and submit the paperwork as prompted.
What if I need money quickly during this transition?
We are happy to work with you to get you money as quickly as possible once the funds have transferred. Before any transfers happen, we will make sure that you have the funds you need to cover your expenses.
What about the credit card, debit card or checking account I have with you?
Prior to transferring, we are going to make sure that all of the transactions within the account are cleared, and then our BlueStem team will work with you on establishing all the active arrangements that you’ve already had in place.
This is a good time to share that we will now have a significant banking and lending platform through Schwab Bank, which we believe will provide even more competitive rates and terms than our past offerings.
How will this impact my beneficiary designations and estate plan?
Your advisor will help make sure that your beneficiaries are correctly listed on your accounts, and that there is no impact to your estate plan. This will also provide you with an excellent opportunity to update any beneficiaries, if necessary.
What is the process for RMDs and QCDs?
This is an important requirement, and it needs to be done right. Like we have done in the past, and once your accounts have transferred, our team will verify the amount of your annual RMD or QCD, and work with you to complete it prior to the end of this current tax year.
Will I have website access to my accounts?
Yes, as a matter of fact, not only will you have access to your investments, but you will also be able to link outside banking accounts to the site, including 401(k), mortgage, credit cards and more.
This means that you will be able to view your entire financial plan, conveniently in one place whether it’s on a mobile device or your computer at home. As soon as your accounts have been moved to Schwab, we will assist you in creating your login credentials.
